Cancellation policy:
We realise that there are events in life over which we have no control. Should you need to cancel your booking due to illness, or compassionate or other unforeseen circumstances, we will do our level best to reschedule your booking. However, if we are notified less than 48 hours before your spa date, therapists will have been allocated specifically for your treatments and your deposit will be utilized to offset their professional fees. In fairness to our professional staff, we finalise schedules 48 hours in advance and once the therapists are notified of their timetables, we are committed to their fees and your full deposit will be forfeited.

Refund policy:
In the event of a booking being cancelled in good time, which we consider to be at least seven days for a weekday booking and the minimum of a month for a Saturday, public holiday or during peak season (school holidays), an administration fee of 10% of the total booking price will be charged. The balance of your payment will be refunded.

Arrival time: We wish for a gentle start to your Indigo Fields experience.
Please note on your booking sheet your ETA (Expected time of arrival) and whether your spa day begins with a meal or treatment.

Your day starts with a treatment:
Should your day start with a treatment, please arrive 30 minutes earlier than your scheduled treatment time to allow you to complete a health questionnaire and change into a spa gown. We find that larger groups (of four or more) prefer a generous margin of time so please factor this in – we all need that “social catch-up” time before dispersing for treatments.  We suggest 45 minutes to an hour before treatment for groups.

Your day starts with a meal:
Packages that start with a spa breakfast or lunch before treatments are less time restrained.

Distance from:

  • Durban Central:  around 150 kms
  • Pietermaritzburg:  around 60 kms
  • Johannesburg: around 450 kms
  • St Andrew’s Retreat, Mooiriver:  35 kms

All oils used during treatments on pregnant ladies are essential oil free and safe. Our base oil is either a cold pressed extra virgin olive oil or grape seed oil.  Swedish massage is the preferred massage method during pregnancy as it addresses many of the common discomforts one may experience at this time.  However, as with any holistic approach to pregnancy you should consult your GP.

If in your first trimester (first 12 weeks of pregnancy), we recommend that you discuss your treatment options with your GP before finalizing your booking with Indigo Fields. The following conditions during any stage of pregnancy are of concern and it is strongly recommended that you obtain your GP’S consent:

  • High risk pregnancy
  • Previous pre-term labour
  • High blood pressure
  • Severe swelling

Please note: Your booking with Indigo Fields confirms that you have satisfied any concerns with regard to the treatments booked and that you have your GP’s consent.

Please bring a comfortable pair of slip-on shoes– sandals in summer and closed shoes in winter – you will wear these to the boma’s so they must be suitable for outdoors.

Some packages include a Sensual Spa session with a full body scrub, steam room and Jacuzzi time for which you will need to wear your swimsuit, (preferably bikini style for ladies).

In summer, you may wish to pack your bathing suit for lounging around the swimming pool.  Our groups booked into Twickle Cottage may wish to use the on-site Jacuzzi and dry sauna in the outdoor garden area and will require swimwear.

In winter or during cooler weather spells, you may wish to pack a pair of closed outdoor shoes rather than sandals as well as a pair of socks to keep your feet warm.  If you feel the cold, bring along a pair of tracksuit pants to wear under your spa gown.  We have seen all sorts of combinations and the only thing that matters is that you are most comfortable.

Evening wear:
The Midlands has four seasons in a day, so please ensure that you bring something warm for the evenings.  We endeavour to create your perfect dinner experience – for most of our couples this is a private setting so whether you wish to remain in your gown or “dress up”, the choice is yours. Cottage guests have dinner brought to them.

Indigo Fields is a bush spa – you need to be able to climb into an open bush vehicle from a raised platform, walk on uneven terrain and climb up and down steps to reach our bomas where treatments are offered. This interlude with nature is what makes our spa experience unique and special.
Should you feel that you may have some difficulty, please notify us at the time of your booking so that we can try and find a solution specifically geared to your needs and schedule accordingly. Schedules are completed 48 hours prior to the spa day.
